將近四年醞釀而得的 LDOCE5，最明顯的差別是頁數比前一版多出一百多頁 (1950 頁與

2082頁的差別)，還有光碟部分，由原來的兩張 CD-ROM 變成一張 DVD-ROM。LDOCE5 的

front matter 直接說明了這本第五版重點在光碟上，印刷版反而成了配角。證據如，

collocation 的數據，印刷版收錄 65,000 筆，光碟上多給了 82,000 筆；Synonym 數

據，印刷版收錄 18,000 筆，光碟多給 30,000 筆數據。光看這些，就足夠把印刷版的

使用者全部趕到光碟上了。

以兩片光碟容納辭典內容，除了 OED 之外，就是 LDOCE4v2。現在這一新版更擴而大之

，用起 DVD-ROM 來了。如我之前說的，安裝後的數據容量，從 1.14GB 擴大到 2.31GB

，大約相當四張 CD-ROM 的容量。

打開畫面，十二個功能如棋盤狀展開。Guided Tour 有 58段動畫介紹，我強烈建議使用

者先全部看過。因為整套軟體的功能大致都有不錯的解說。這個開啟畫面，每次啟動軟
